If you are moving to Aylmer, Qc from out of province there are a few basic things to do to have your car registered and accepted in Quebec.Before you begin your due diligence, remember to keep the following 3 critical points in mind:

  1. If your car was purchased outside of Quebec, you will need to have a SAAQ licensed mechanic inspect your car so that it conforms to Quebec law and enables you the right to have your car registered in Quebec.
  2. Exchange your Canadian driver’s license from your province to a Quebec driver’s license.
  3. Apply for automobile insurance for Quebec prior to changing your registration and driver’s license. In other words, notify your current insurance company of your move!

Applying for your Quebec health card is really quite straight forward.Be sure that once you have moved into your home in Aylmer that you visit the following government health card website.From this website, you call their phone number and request an application for a Quebec health card.The government wants you to call them directly and it actually is easier over the phone to provide them the following details:

  1. The date you moved to Quebec
  2. The date that you became a resident of Quebec
  3. Your current provincial health insurance card number

Following your phone call, you will receive the application form partially completed by mail.

Upon receiving the application, simply go to Aylmer’s local CLSC (link) and provide them with the application as well as the following:

  1. Notarized Identification
  2. Passport or similar ID
  3. Proof of residence in Quebec (hydro quebec bill or telephone suffices)
  4. Application form
  5. ID photo (you can grab this at Aylmer mall)
